Ohio Peace Officer Security Academy (160) hours

 

This program is designed for individuals who are either currently employed or seeking employment in commercial/retail loss prevention, assets protection, private security,hospital security, corporate security, or other private police functions. This course meets the requirements of the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission for lifetime certification as a private security officer. This academy can serve as a stepping stone into the Natural Resources/Ranger/Basic Peace Officer Academy or stand alone within the security or public safety profession.

 

Applicants must be 18 years old at completion of program, have a valid driver’s license and must submit to fingerprinting, a background check and a medical examination. All state and federal guidelines dictating the carrying of a firearm set by the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission will be followed.

 

The Security Academy includes training in:

  • Firearms
  • Defensive tactics
  • First Aid/CPR
  • Patrol operations
  • Cultural sensetivity
  • Laws of arrest

Commissioned and open enrollment applicants will be accepted.

Note: Registrations must be completed prior to a mandatory meeting on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 for Fall 2009 class and Tuesday, March 2, 2010 for Spring 2010 class. The meeting will be held from 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM. Fingerprint cards and paperwork will be completed during this meeting.

SPRING 2010

Tuesday, Thursday; 5:30 PM - 9:30 PM

& Saturday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

April 13, 2010 – June 12, 2010

 

Tuition Fee $1,395

Tuition includes uniforms, textbooks and supplies.
