Career Development Program at Polaris Career Center


The Polaris Career Development Program is part of Ohio's Career Development System.  This program works with the associate school districts of Berea, Brooklyn, Fairview, North Olmsted, Olmsted Falls and Strongsville in planning career-related activities for students and integrating career information into the curriculum. Its purpose is to broaden students' knowledge about the world of work, and to help them make informed career decisions.

Career Development Services
  • Assist students with the Individual Career and Academic Plan Process.
  • Provide sample of Career Development Portfolio
  • Provide career information.
  • Arrange career days, panels, and seminars for curriculum area grades 7-12 based on the Career Development Key Concepts.
  • Schedule career-based field trips.
  • Provide one-day shadowing experiences for high school juniors and seniors.
  • Participation in the EconomicsAmerica, Cleveland Center, John Carrol University program.
  • Assist educators with Ohio Graduation Test (OGT)

Advisory Committee

The Career Development Program at Polaris Career Center has an advisory committee that is composed of stakeholders in business, industry, higher education, teachers, parents and students.  The purpose of our committee is to provide ongoing program evaluation, consultation, and labor market trends.  Members for the 2004-2005 school year include:

Aaron Benjamin, Kimberly Bowen, Tom Buescher, Dan Foust, Kevin Kelly, LuAnne Mariano, John Pecon, Issac Reynolds, Mike Rodak, Pat Sweeney, Mike VonGunten, and Barb Zimmerman.

We value the expertise of these individuals who provide valuable input that benefits our students as they enter postsecondary opportunities or the world of work.
