Reference Databases This web site shows all the subscription databases to which Polaris has access. These databases contain information that is current, reliable, edited and not available on the regular Internet. The databases can be used at home with passwords. The passwords are available in the Polaris Information Center.

EBSCO-A database package that indexes more than 6,000 full-text periodicals. There are 23 different databases you can choose to search. Most students will want to choose Secondary Search unless they are doing a specialized search for their program.
Gale Group Databases:Student Resource Center - Gold Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center, PlainDealer, Professional,Collection- A fully integrated database containing thousands of primary documents, biographies, topical essays, background information, critical analyses, full-text coverage of magazines, newspapers, photographs and illustrations, and audio and video clips.
NewsBank Newspapers--A collection of full-text newspapers including more than 15 Ohio publications and other national newspapers.
SIRS Discoverer Deluxe- Articles and graphics from more than 1,400 U.S. and international magazines, newspapers and U.S. government documents are carefully selected for their educational content, interest and level of readability.
Accu/Net Multimedia Archive--Access over 750,000 Associated Press photographs that are as recent as a minute ago and date as far back as the 1840s.
Oxford Reference Online--This collection contains the complete texts of 100 reference titles including English and bilingual dictionaries and dictionaries of quotations, history, literature, politics, science and many more.
Biography Resource Center--Biography Resource Center provides in-depth and up-to-date biographical information on more than 320,000 past and present noteworthy figures from across the eras, fields of endeavor and the globe.
American National Biography- This database offers biographies of more than 17,400 men and women whose lives have shaped the nation.
