Teaching Professions

Teaching Pro. 07-08
“The educational technology in this program is impressive.  The program is practical and real world.  I am definitely on the right track to a career in education.”

The school bell is ringing.  Are you ready for class?  Few professions are more rewarding than teaching.  The best teachers make learning exciting, fun, and relevant.  Teachers are special people with special talents.  They are mentors, role models, nurturers, and friends.

The Teaching Professions program gives you an opportunity to develop skills in classroom management, lesson planning, and instruction.  Throughout the program, you will learn about various personality types, learning styles and ability levels.  In addition to classroom instruction at your associate high school, you will participate in distance learning via video classroom, online coursework, shadowing experiences (junior year) and work-based instruction (senior year).

As a Teaching Professions student, you will receive a laptop computer on loan for the duration of the time spent in the program.  The coursework and work-based experience will provide you a solid foundation for a successful teaching career as a “cyber-savvy” teacher.  You will develop a professional portfolio that can be utilized to complete a secondary program for college credits.

Polaris Career Center and Baldwin-Wallace College have a partnership that allows you to elect to earn college credit at a reduced fee.  With this collaboration, the Polaris Teaching Professions program becomes a career-focused college-level high school program.
