Baking & Pastry Arts

There is nothing sweeter than a career in baking and pastry arts.  The Baking and Pastry Arts program at Polaris Career Center will provide a solid foundation in the preparation of basic skills needed for this growing industry. You will obtain the practical and theoretical hands-on training necessary to prepare quality bakery products.

 Topics include:

  • Preparation of various cookies, custards, mousses, meringues, quick breads, cakes, cupcakes, tortes, frostings, fillings, pies, tarts, yeast breads, pre-fermented breads, laminated doughs, chocolates, ice creams, sorbets, and more
  • Commercial food equipment operation
  • How to use the necessary tools to prepare and present products
  • Introduction to ingredients, mixing methods and garnishes
  • Proper handling and storage of foods
  • Basic pastry and culinary techniques (piping, knife skills, etc.)
  • Sanitation and safety through ServSafe certification
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Customer Service

This program is for beginners who have a true passion for baking and learning and is appropriate for those interested in starting a home-based business.  Our students gain skills, knowledge and confidence.

Tuition Fee:  $2,995
Tuition includes textbooks, supplies and ServSafe certification test fees.
