| We believe that Educational Internet use should be restricted to
teaching and learning that which might not be accomplished without Internet
use. We have classified four types of Internet use accordingly. Review
these four (alternative

At the first level novices might access authentic data quickly across the Internet; at the second level students and teachers communicate with each other or with experts; classes might join collaborative projects; at the third level we might find content information providing a deeper conceptual understanding about a topic under study in class. Finally, at the fourth level more involved, higher level reasoning understanding, communication and collaboration are exercised in contextual projects involving a compelling inquiry over the internet. {The ILT has collected more links demonstrating this model} Examine enough of the samples in each category to gain an understanding of each level, then move on to the next level of Internet integration. When you decide to integrate the Internet into your lessons decide which model best suits your needs. Keep in mind that each subsequent level involves more time and understanding on the part of the teacher as well as the student. The first level would be the easiest to integrate, not even requiring a computer in the classroom. The fourth level would be the most difficult and might take the greatest effort and time.
