Career Development Program

The Career Development Program at Polaris works with the associate school districts of Berea, Brooklyn, Fairview, North Olmsted, Olmsted Falls and Strongsville in planning career-related activities for students and integrating career information into the curriculum. Its purpose is to broaden students' knowledge about the world of work, and to help them make informed career decisions. The Career Development Program plans activities from kindergarten through twelfth grade to provide career awareness, motivation, orientation and exploration experiences. 

Career Development Services 

  • Assist students, counselors, and teachers in developing students' 
  • Individual  Career Plans and Career  Passports. 
  • Organize Vehicle Day (Careers on Wheels).. 
  • Arrange career days,  panels, and seminars at elementary, middle, and high  schools. 
  • Arrange career-related and  economics-related speakers for all curriculum areas. 
  • Lend career and  economic-based media materials from the Career  Development library. 
  • Schedule field trips. 
  • Create special projects  related to the 12 Career Development key topics. 
  • Provide one-day shadowing  experiences for high school students. 
  • Support teachers through  economic and career education inservices. 
  • Offer graduate economic classes through  EconomicsAmerica, John Carroll University. 
  • Collaborate with Region 8 and Ohio  School-to-Work initiative.
