Technology Quotient and the Information Age

We have found that a teacher's personal expectations, objectives, accomplishments, and frustrations all vary according to his/her own situation concerning (1)educational technology skills, (2)classroom teaching philosophy and (3)available technology support

(1) Research supports the existence of five stages through which teachers progress as they begin to understand the implications of technology use: Entry, Adoption, Adaptation, Appropriation, and Invention. (ACOT research on same) (2) Research also suggests a direct correlation between a teacher's philosophy (constructivist vs. instructivist) and the degree to which that teacher embraces the integration of technology in the classroom. (3) Recent studies also provide documentation correlating School District Technology Support and meaningful use of technology in teaching and learning. We use these 3 conditions to help establish a teacher's or district's TQ, Technology Quotient.
