Cosmetology Academy

Adult students gain hands-on styling, manicure and pedicure training in the New Beginnings Salon while obtaining the knowledge necessary for the State Board Cosmetology license.

Cosmetology Academy

The Cosmetology Academy program prepares
students for careers in this exciting, cutting-edge
field. Gain hands-on experience in the brand new
Polaris Career Center Salon Allure, while obtaining
the industry knowledge necessary for the Ohio State
Board of Cosmetology license.

Acquire skills commonly used in cosmetology in the following areas:
– Dispensary operations
– Sanitation
– Reception duties
– Salon management
Emphasis will be placed on the hands-on practice of:
– Scalp care and hair treatments
– Shaping and cutting hair
– Styling hair
– Permanent waving and relaxing
– Hair coloring, highlighting and toning
– Manicuring/pedicuring
– Facial treatments
– Wig and hairpiece care
– Employability skills

Requirements for Completion:
– A “C” average (70%) or higher
– Attendance rate not less than 90%
– Payment of all outstanding obligations to the school
License:
– Ohio State Board Licensed Cosmetologist
Requiements for licensure:
– Must complete 1500 hours
– Must pay examination fee
– Must pass the state board exam
– Required for employment

The Cosmetology Academy program is a 2-year program. Qualified
students will have access to two years of financial aid funding.
Qualifies for the One-Year Option College Credit.

Fall 2019 - Evening
Program Orientation: Monday, September 16, 2019 4:00 PM - 6:30 PM
Monday – Thursday: 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM
September 17, 2019 – June 2021 (approximate ending date)

Total Program Cost $14,695 includes Tuition: $13,711, Books &
Supplies: $932, Materials & Assessments: $52
Cost includes textbooks, tool kit with mannequins, nail kit and smock.
Students can expect the following additional cost: Uniform and
licensure examination fee.
