2016 Hall of Fame

Our tenth Hall of Fame inductee class consists of two exceptional former students.  Charlie Moore, a former Criminal Justice and Adult Ranger Academy student; and Christopher Polo, a former Chef Training student, leveraged their Polaris career-technical experience to pursue distinguished careers. We are proud of their accomplishments and appreciate the role they serve as Polaris ambassadors.  Moore and Polo were officially inducted into the Polaris Hall of Fame during a ceremony on April 26, 2016.

Charlie Moore

Polaris Programs:
Criminal Justice
2002 Graduate, Brooklyn High School
Adult Ranger Academy, 2005

Current Employment:
Sergeant of Field Operations for the Cleveland MetroParks

Charlie Moore represents a first for the Polaris Hall of Fame.  He is being inducted as a graduate of both a Polaris High School and Adult Education program.  As a student at Brooklyn High School, he was a four year letterman on the golf team.  In 2000, he began his Polaris career with a calling to work in the law enforcement field.  He enrolled in the Polaris Criminal Justice program and had two very successful years.  He was inducted into the National Technical Honor Society.  In addition, he won a state title in criminal justice at the state SkillsUSA competition and placed seventh at nationals during his senior year.

Prior to graduating from Brooklyn High School in 2002, he was placed into a corporate security position at Sherwin Williams, a position he held until 2006.  During his time at Sherwin Williams, he enrolled in the Polaris Adult Ranger Academy and graduated in 2005.  He worked for the Geauga Lake Police Department during the summer of 2006 before joining the Cleveland MetroParks in August of that same year.  Charlie is currently a Sergeant of Field Operations for the MetroParks and is assigned to Edgewater Park.  In that capacity, he is a diver with the dive team and a member of the Southwest Emergency Response Water Rescue Division, a Field Training Officer and a Physical Fitness Specialist.  Moore also holds an associate’s degree from Cuyahoga Community College in Technical Studies in Park Ranger Policing.

Charlie currently resides in Berea with his wife Christy.

Christopher Polo

Polaris Program:
Chef Training 2000 Graduate, Olmsted Falls High School

Current Employment:
Executive Chef, Bolingbrook Golf Club - Bolingbrook, Illinois

Throughout his Olmsted Falls High School career, Christopher Polo juggled a busy schedule.  He played football, wrestled and ran track.  In 1998, he began his Polaris journey with a strong desire to work in the restaurant industry.  He enrolled in the Polaris Chef Training program and enjoyed two great years.  Just prior to graduating in 2000, he was placed at the Watermark Restaurant in Cleveland and so began his foodservice career.  That fall, he attended the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in Hyde Park, New York where he earned an associate’s degree in Culinary Arts and a bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts Management.  While enrolled at CIA, he worked in an externship at the Barichelli Inn in Cleveland.

After graduating from CIA in 2004, Chef Polo journeyed to Chicago and began a distinguished culinary career.  He worked as a roundsman at Aria Restaurant at the Fairmount Hotel until 2006.  Next, he moved to Tru Restaurant and became a line cook.  He joined the management ranks in 2007 when he served as Rooftop Manager at Wrigleyville Rooftops.  Later that year, he ventured to Vines on Clark Catering and became their Catering Chef and Operations Manager.  In 2008, he returned to Aria at the Fairmount Hotel as Sous Chef and was then recruited by the Swisshotel in 2009 where he became Executive Sous Chef responsible for a $16 million food and beverage budget.  In 2015, he joined Bolingbrook Golf Club in Bolingbrook, Illinois where he currently works as Executive Chef managing both the banquet and restaurant food and beverage operations.

Chris currently resides in Lemont, Illinois with his wife Katie and two children, William and Abigail.
