Engineering

The Project Lead the Way® Engineering program is a four year sequence of courses which, when combined with high school mathematics and science, will introduce you to the scope, rigor and discipline of engineering.

Introduction to Engineering Design (Recommended 1st Course)

Using 3D computer modeling software, you will learn the design process and solve design problems for which you will develop, analyze and create product models.

Principles of Engineering

This course will help you gain more in-depth insight into the field of engineering/engineering technology. With a focus on exploring technology systems and manufacturing processes, Principles of Engineering will provide you a better understanding of how engineers and technicians use math, science and technology to solve complex problems and benefit society.

Digital Electronics (DE)

From smartphones to appliances, digital circuits are all around us. This course provides a foundation for students who are interested in electrical engineering, electronics, or circuit design. Students study topics such as combinational and sequential logic and are exposed to circuit design tools used in industry including: logic gates, integrated circuits and programmable logic devices.

Engineering Design and Development – Capstone Course

Guided by your instructor and community mentors, you will work as a team to research, design, and construct solutions to engineering problems. The Capstone Course is a summation of everything you have learned throughout the four-year program.

AP Computer Science Principles *Offered at Fairview and Brooklyn High Schools

Using Python® as a primary tool and incorporating multiple platforms and languages for computation, this course aims to develop computational thinking, generate excitement about career paths that utilize computing, and introduce professional tools that foster creativity and collaboration. Computer Science Principles helps students develop programming expertise and explore the workings of the Internet. Projects and problems include app development, visualization of data, cybersecurity, and simulation. PLTW is recognized by the College Board as an endorsed provider of curriculum and professional development for AP® Computer Science Principles (AP CSP). This endorsement affirms that all components of PLTW CSP’s offerings are aligned to the AP Curriculum Framework standards and the AP CSP assessment.
