HOSA regionals

Polaris Biomedical Science satellite program students recently competed in the HOSA-Future Health Professionals regional competition at Trumbull Career & Technical Center in Warren, Ohio. HOSA’s mission is to empower students to become leaders in the global health community through education, collaboration and experience. HOSA boasts over 260,000 members in 54 associations in the US and around the world.  HOSA also sponsors skills competitions at the regional, state and international levels which give students a platform to showcase their healthcare skills, knowledge and leadership abilities. The top four students in each category qualify to complete at the state competition. This year’s event will take place in Columbus on March 16 and 17.  Below is a summary of the Polaris students who qualified to compete at the state level:

Biomedical Science at Berea-Midpark High School

Naomi Melnik (junior), Amelie Mockbee (junior), Mackenzie Peck (junior), and Manveer Singh (junior) placed 2nd place in Biomedical Quiz Bowl

Aryonna Adamczyk (freshman) placed 2nd in Human Growth and Development

Mackenzie Peck (junior) placed 2nd in Health Care Issues

Tiffany Talbot (sophomore) placed 2nd in Health Career Photography

Amelie Mockbee (junior) placed 3rd in Health Care Issues

Paige Zednik (freshman) placed 3rd in Family Medicine

Rylinn Evans (freshman) placed 4th in Human Growth and Development

Eden Gedamu (sophomore) and Naomi Melnik (junior) tied each other and placed 4th in Health Care Issues

Biomedical Science at Olmsted Falls High School

Morgan Truscott (senior) 1st place in Behavioral Health

Lily Marshall (sophomore) 1st place in Medical Reading

Camden Burkhard (senior) 1st place in Nutrition

Molly Kramer (sophomore) 3rd place in Pathophysiology

Sarah Allman (sophomore) 1st place in Biotechnology
