Earlier this summer, Polaris senior Jayden Schultz claimed a national title in the CNC Programmer event at the SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference (NLSC) in Atlanta, Georgia. This prestigious event draws thousands of top career-technical students from across the country each year to compete in more than 100 skilled trades and leadership contests.
Schultz, a Precision CNC Machining student from Brooklyn High School, represented Polaris with skill and professionalism - returning not just with incredible memories, but with the title of national champion. The CNC Programmer competition challenges students to independently plan and program jobs for 2-axis CNC turning centers and 3-axis CNC milling machines. Participants must demonstrate advanced competencies including CAM programming, G-code troubleshooting, print interpretation (including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing or GD&T), measurement and gauging, and a thorough understanding of CNC machine setup and operation.
In addition to his CNC Machining success, Jayden was also a four-year completer of the Polaris Project Lead the Way Engineering program at Brooklyn High School. This fall, he will take the next step in his journey by enrolling at Kent State University to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Well done, Jayden! Your hard work has truly paid off - we’re proud of you and excited for all that lies ahead!
