Students enrolled in our Broadcasting & Video Production and Digital Marketing Satellite Programs at Berea-Midpark High School earned second place nationally in the 2026 Create Real Impact High School Campaign Competition. This achievement marks the sixth consecutive year these programs have placed in the national top three.

The competition is hosted by Impact Teen Drivers (ITD), a nationally recognized nonprofit dedicated to reducing distracted and reckless driving among teens. ITD’s mission is to save lives by educating and empowering young drivers and passengers to make safer choices behind the wheel while creating a culture where distracted driving is no longer socially acceptable.

This year’s award-winning Polaris campaign, titled “Saved by the Belt,” creatively drew inspiration from the popular 1990s teen sitcom Saved by the Bell while delivering an important message about seat belt safety and distracted driving awareness.

The student-led campaign showcased a collaborative effort involving Polaris students, school staff, the Berea Police Department and community members. Throughout the campaign, students produced public service announcements, social media content, daily school announcements and organized a community awareness fair focused on preventing reckless and distracted driving.

The campaign was recognized nationally for its creativity, positive messaging and strong community engagement. As the national runner-up, the Polaris programs received a $5,000 educational grant.

The project was created under the direction of Polaris instructors Katie Street and Melissa Burchett and by the following students:
