Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) are an important part of the healthcare workforce, providing bedside nursing care and procedures under the direction of registered nurses and physicians. However, the shortage of nurses, including LPNs, is becoming a nationwide concern due to the aging nursing workforce and lack of new graduates. To address this issue, we’ve teamed up with Southwest General Health Center to launch a new Adult Education Practical Nursing program to help fill these vital positions.

Taught in a new cutting-edge classroom and lab setting, this program will provide students with the knowledge and clinical training required to embark on a rewarding career in nursing. Thanks to the partnership with Southwest, aspiring nurses will have the incredible opportunity to access scholarship funds, ensuring that financial barriers do not hinder their educational pursuits. Moreover, students will gain invaluable clinical experiences at their Middleburg Heights campus, providing them with a comprehensive understanding of real-world healthcare scenarios. Upon successful completion of this program, graduates will be eligible to take the NCLEX-PN licensure exam, opening a world of opportunities in the healthcare industry.

“For the first time ever, we’re creating a direct nursing pathway for our adult education students. Our partnership with Southwest General will enable our students to seamlessly transition from our nursing program to a real-world clinical setting. It’s truly a game-changer for all involved. This unique partnership will open exciting career opportunities for our students and help Southwest fill important positions,” says Polaris Superintendent Bob Timmons.

Starting in August 2024, students can embark on this 11-month program that will equip them with the necessary skills to thrive in this growing profession. Classes will run Monday through Thursday with an occasional Friday, and feature 788 hours of classroom instruction, 146 hours of hands-on skills lab training and 166 hours of clinical rotations at Southwest General.

What makes our program stand out?

  • The tuition is the lowest in the region

  • NEW labs and classrooms are among the most advanced in NE Ohio

  • There is no program waitlist

  • Access to financial aid and scholarships (for those who qualify)

  • The program features experienced staff – 50+ years of industry experience

  • Students will complete the program in 11 short months
